Charyn Canyons

Distance from Almaty: 200 km east of the city

  • Valley of Castles: The most famous part, with rock formations resembling medieval towers and castles
  • Ash Tree Valley: Known for its rare Tien Shan ash trees along the river
  • Canyons and Rock Formations: Red sandstone cliffs, unique textures from erosion

Distance from Almaty: 300 km east


  • Photography: Extremely popular due to the dramatic scenery of submerged trees and turquoise water
  • Picnics & Camping: Limited areas; it’s mostly a day-trip destination
Kaindy lake is not easily accessible! Need to consult before booking.

Kolsay Lake

Distance from Almaty: 300 km east of the city (around 4–5 hours by car)

Main Attractions:
  • Three Lakes: Kolsai 1, 2, and 3, each with crystal-clear water surrounded by mountains
  • Hiking & Trekking: Trails connecting the lakes through alpine meadows and forests
  • Horseback Riding: Local guides offer rides along the lakes and surrounding valleys
  • Wildlife & Nature: Tien Shan mountain landscapes, pine forests, and rich fauna
Only the first lake is easily accessible!

Distance from Almaty: 15 km south of the city

  • Turquoise Water: Stunning color caused by mountain glaciers
